NETWORKING SCENARIOS
While in school, Amanda joined the Utah School Counselor Association and volunteered to serve on their board of directors. At their monthly meetings and frequent seminars and conferences, she met school counselors from many school districts. She joined the American School Counselor Association and emailed members to get to know them. Amanda also got to know her professors well. She conducted information interviews with local school counselors. She job shadowed and interned.
Scott was interested in teaching. Before he got accepted into the University teaching program, he volunteered at many schools as a tutor and teacher's assistant. He volunteered with the Bennion Center. He conducted information interviews with current teachers and talked with education professors. He joined a professional organization. He talked to his mom's friend, who is a teacher. He talked to his old high school teacher. He talked to the neighbor down the street, who works at a school. He talked to his little sister's teachers.
